In her life, Iris has proven her wide range of talent. She has not only excelled in flying, she has also been an Olympic swimmer, competing with the U.S. team in the 1936 games in Berlin. She later joined the ferrying division of the WASP corps in 1943 and won the Powder Puff Derby in 1959. She taught aeronautics in universities for 38 years and continues her influence in aviation as well as retaining her membership to the Ninety-Nines.
