Women Pilots

Mary Elizabeth Von Mach was born in Detroit. She learned to fly at Eddie Stinson's flight school. She made a solo flight from Dallas, Texas to Detroit, Michigan in the winter of 1928. Von Mach was a wealthy sportswoman of her time. She stated that she joined the 1929 Air Derby to not win but to enjoy the sportsmanship.
